Baptism

Through Baptism we are made members of the Church, belonging to the one Body of Christ, adopted children of God. In Baptism the gates of heaven are opened as well as all other Sacraments of the Church.

If you would like to have your child baptized, please call Fr. Martin Coolidge at 563-539-4442 during Cluster Office hours (Mon-Thurs 8:00am-Noon) or by email at dbq134@dbqarch.org.  Fr. Martin's business office hours are from Mon-Thurs 8:00am-Noon--these office hours are subject to change due to the different pastoral needs of the parishioners in the cluster. We also ask parents who are baptizing a child for the first time to meet with Fr. Martin in preparation for the Baptism.

Catechism of the Catholic Church on Baptism

Adults who wish to be baptized in the Catholic Church do so through a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Through reading of the Scriptures, participation in the community, and works of service, catechumens grow in their faith in Jesus Christ and discern their call to become Catholic Christians.  The process is tailored to each person's own faith journey, but usually culminates in baptism, Eucharist and confirmation on Easter Vigil. Contact Fr. Martin Coolidge to learn more.
