Reconciliation

Sacrament of Reconciliation

The sacrament of Reconciliation restores the grace of God to the soul hurt by sin. It is the normal way for Catholics conscious of grave sin to receive pardon and reconciliation with God.  Penance may be celebrated 20 minutes before Mass in the cluster or by appointment. Please call the cluster office at (563) 539-4442.

Cluster Faith Formation for First Reconciliation:

It is now required that all students preparing for First Communion/First Reconciliation must have completed a year of Faith Formation before they receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (First Reconciliation).

According to the National Catechetical Directory, “Children are normally to be prepared for the sacrament of Reconciliation prior to receiving First Communion.”  Our second graders are prepared for Reconciliation in the fall.  There is a parent meeting in September to provide adult formation and updated information on the sacrament.  Parents will receive the materials needed to prepare their children at home.  Additionally sacramental families participate in a Reconciliation Retreat in late November. All students participating in the program must register for Faith Formation classes at the beginning of the Faith Formation year in August.

Please contact the Cluster Faith Formation Leader for more information or questions.
